Monalisa Touch - Deka Intimate

Monalisa Touch™ is the therapy which has been revolutionizing the intimate health of millions of women worldwide since 2010, using a CO2 fractional laser specifically realized for the vaginal musosa. MonaLisa Touch™ prevents and improves the effects of oestrogen decrease on vaginal tissues (typical of many conditions like menopause and post-partum) rehydrating and nourishing tissues, reactivating new collagen production and restoring the correct vaginal microbiome with acid pH. In essence, fertile age vaginal mucosa’s conditions are restored. The benefits of this laser stimulation also impact other aspects related to vulvovaginal atrophy.

Monalisa Touch™ can also be used for these problems:

  • Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause
  • Vulvo-Vaginal Atrophy
  • Cystitides
  • Urinary Incontinece
  • Atrophic Vaginitis
  • Vulvodynia

Monalisa Touch™ for Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause

Monalisa Touch - Deka Intimate

When speaking about genitourinary syndrome of menopause we mean “a set” of clinical conditions which impact the woman’s intimate system during menopause.

Initially, the Monalisa Touch procedure was mainly aimed at targeting the atrophic vulvovaginal mucosa and for atrophic vaginitis. With the worldwide diffusion of this method and after treating millions of patients with optimal results, there are now several scientific publications which report on the important improvement obtained thanks to the Monalisa Touch treatment also for aspects related to the urinary system such as urinary incontinence or cystitides.

With vulvovaginal atrophy the impacted tissues are “aged” and are thin, dry, scarcely elastic, frail and more subject to infections. Monalisa Touch™ uses a special CO2 laser, specifically developed for this application, to effectively intervene and, at the same time, dedicated to atrophic vaginal or vulvar tissues. The laser creates small micro holes on the vaginal mucosa, generating a tissue restoration and remodelling process. The laser energy released in the mucosa triggers a series of mechanisms which stimulate tissue regeneration. The increase in vascularization and improved hydration allow a higher nourishment which favors the restoring of those physiological conditions which are typical of menopause. As a result, noteworthy improvement of the symptoms reported by the patients like burning, itching, dryness, irritation and pain during intercourse can be appreciated.

The Monalisa Touch method is a valid option for the treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy also in those patients who may not or do not want to use hormonal therapies. Scientific literature reports a broad set of cases or oncological patients treated with fractional CO2 laser used with Monalisa Touch who have obtained optimal results.

Monalisa Touch™ for Cystitides

The causes leading to cystitis are multiple and not always identifiable. Among the factors to be taken into account there is also the one related to the bacteria which colonize the vagina and that may enter the urinary tract given its proximity. The vaginal microenvironment is fundamental for urogenital health. In particular, lactobacilli play a key role in a healthy vaginal balance because they are responsible for keeping an acid pH, which constitutes an effective barrier against the colonization by pathogenic bacteria which may expose the patient to inflammations and/or local infections.

In particular conditions, like for example menopause, breastfeeding or pharmacological therapies, the vaginal microbiome changes. It has been determined that a decrease in vaginal flora lactobacilli is connected with the presence of pathogenic elements like Gardnerella Vaginalis, Trichomonas Vaginalis, Enterococci, B-group Streptococci and Escherichia Coli.

Monalisa Touch contributes to the recovery of normal physiological conditions in the vaginal environment. Scientific studies have found that after one cycle of Monalisa Touch treatments the number of Lactobacilli increases and consequently the pH falls again to optimal levels. That protective barrier, which hinders the colonization by noxious bacteria, which will no longer have the possibility to migrate towards the urinary system thereby causing infections and cystitides, is recreated.

Monalisa Touch™ for Urinary Incontinence

In case of patients with GUS and light urinary incontinence it has been found that urinary ailments significantly improve following Monalisa Touch treatments with CO2 laser.

An adequate quantity of laser energy is delivered to the vaginal epithelium acting, as a result, also on the urogenital structures above the vagina, thereby generating structural changes which seem to be correlated with the intrinsic and extrinsic continence mechanisms of the urethra.

The clinical results obtained with the treatment of women in menopause with light urinary incontinence from strain show noteworthy improvement with considerable benefits on the patients’ quality of life.

It must be taken into account that this treatment strategy must not be used in patients with pelvic organs prolapse or advanced urinary incontinence.

Monalisa Touch™ for Atrophic Vaginitis

Monalisa Touch - Deka Intimate

The treatment action of Monalisa Touch on the vaginal mucosa allows to restore the typical physiological conditions of a pre-menopause mucosa.

The special CO2 laser used for the Monalisa Touch method produces micro holes in the vagina tissue, triggering a restoration mechanism if the tissue which regenerates itself more elastic, hydrated and thickened. Vaginal mucosa trophism restoration leads to an increase in glycogen levels which favors the recolonization by vaginal lactobacilli and vaginal acidity which prevents colonization by noxious bacteria. Those conditions which are at the origin of the symptoms complained about by patients with atrophic vaginitis lessen, thereby improving quality of life, social and couple relationships.

Fractional CO2 laser therapy is a safe and effective non-hormonal treatment for vestibular pain. Recent publications have shown the usefulness of the Monalisa Touch procedure for patients with issues related to vestibular pain. After a cycle of treatments, significant improvement with regard to both vestibular tissue health and vestibular pain have been appreciated.
